A new painting for the new year......

I am thinking (hoping, dreaming?) that 2009 will be the year the art comes out of the closet and steps into at least a walk-on part in my life. My job as government geek is always there in the spotlight--I generally work 10 hours a day or more---and in my leftover time I am very guilty of frittering my energy on things of no substance, or ships that have sailed (old castoff hobbies that I feel obligated to continue, for example.) This past month I've been on holiday from work (have to burn up all those vacation hours I earned and never used throughout the year) and have done a pretty good job of tossing/giving away/otherwise losing the dead weight. Last night, I even painted. It's not complete but it is well on its way.
